On Friday, August 20, we had to say goodbye to our special mare, Malibu Breeze. "Breezie" was courageous until the end. In her five short years she brought us much joy. Gentle and kind, she was the first horse many little people felt safe to be around. She helped them learn to love horses by the way she gently accepted a carrot from a tiny child's hand, or the patient way she let children brush whatever part they were tall enough to reach - from her knees to her pretty head as she sniffed them.
We have cried our tears but Breezie left us with her proudest accomplishment -- a lovely chestnut colt "Monterrey" by Arlington II. She adored being a first time mom, and she did it so well.
A very special thanks to Dr. Paul Haffner and Joe Milburn who did their best in every way. We will miss you Miss Breezes, but take comfort in knowing you are at peace. We'll take good care of Monte for you. Carrots and kisses to you.
